County Secretaries Meeting

County Secretaries Meeting

In line with the Intergovernmental Relations Act, 2012, the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) convened a meeting with all forty-seven (47) County Secretaries, who are also Heads of Public Service. The forum provided a platform to:
1. Review progress on resolutions from the 11th National and County Government Coordinating Summit.
2. Harmonise agenda items for the 12th Summit Meeting.
3. Address emerging county issues affecting service delivery.
4. Explore opportunities for future collaboration between IGRTC and the County Secretaries Forum.
In his address, Summit Thematic Chairperson, Mr John Kimwela, commended County Secretaries for their role in strengthening intergovernmental relations and enhancing devolved service delivery.
Mr Billow Issack Hassan (CS Mandera), Chairperson of the County Secretaries Forum (Caucus), lauded IGRTC for ensuring full transfer of devolved functions and resources to counties. He underscored that the meeting fulfils the statutory requirement under Section 12(c) of the Intergovernmental Relations Act.
The deliberations resulted in fourteen key resolutions aimed at enhancing intergovernmental relations and improving service delivery. IGRTC will continue engaging County Secretaries to ensure these resolutions are effectively implemented.
The meeting was attended by IGRTC Members, the CEO, and Secretariat.
