IGRTC Chairman, CPA Kithinji Kiragu, hosted Murang’a Governor, Hon. Irungu Kang’ata, for consultations on the Murang’a School Feeding Programme, which currently supports over 39,000 learners across 524 ECDE centres through the provision of daily meals. The programme has since been expanded to include a pilot school lunch initiative in 55 primary schools.
To facilitate the effective rollout of the programme in primary schools, the Murang’a County Government has sought IGRTC’s technical support, particularly in coordinating stakeholder consultations and developing an appropriate framework to guide implementation.
IGRTC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Murang’a County and will develop the requisite legal instruments to anchor the intergovernmental collaboration.
The engagement underscored the critical role of intergovernmental cooperation in enhancing learner nutrition, improving school enrolment, and strengthening learning outcomes across the county.
