Intergovernmental consultative forum for the Mining Sector

The Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), pursuant to Section 13(1) of the Intergovernmental Relations Act (IGRA) of 2012, on 4th of September 2024 convened an intergovernmental consultative forum for the Mining Sector. The forum serves as a strategic platform for key stakeholders to deliberate on pertinent issues affecting harmonious intergovernmental relations within the sector. Additionally, it aims to explore potential areas of collaboration between the national and county governments and to develop agreed-upon modalities for enhancing coordination and synergies in the implementation of devolved functions, policies, and legislation in the Mining Sector.
The stakeholders present were State  Department for Mining, County Executive Committee Members(CECMs) ,National Mining Corporation ,Artisanal  and Small Miners Association of Kenya, Office of the Deputy President-State Department for Devolution ,Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) and The National Treasury.
