The Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), led by Member Wilson Pere,  convened a consultative meeting to review the draft Bulk Water Supply Agreements (BWSAs) for the Karimenu II Dam and Northern Collector Tunnel (NCT) bulk water supply systems.
The meeting was held in line with Gazette Notice No. 4574 of 6th July 2020, which designated key bulk water supply systems and water treatment facilities as National Public Water Works. The framework seeks to operationalize the Gazette Notice while strengthening coordinated management, service delivery, and accountability in the bulk water supply sector.
The consultative session brought together key stakeholders, including Eng. Joseph Kamau, CEO, Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA); David Kuria, CEC, Water, Environment & Climate Change, Kiambu County; and the Managing Directors of Karuri Water & Sanitation Company (KAWSCO), Kiambu Water & Sewerage Company Ltd (KIAWASCO), Ruiru-Juja Water & Sewerage Company Ltd (RUJWASCO) and Council of Governors. Also present were IGRTC Members John Burugu, John Kimwela and Dr. Perminus Ndimitu.
IGRTC continues to play its facilitative role in strengthening intergovernmental frameworks to ensure sustainable, equitable, and efficient water service delivery for communities.
